Dominik and Simon - we were both born in the late 1980s, we share the passion for travelling and we know each other since school days. During our studies we started sharing a flat and - even more important - we started travelling together. For 8 years from 2008 to 2015 we travelled over 40 countries during journeys from 2 days to 5 weeks. In the course of these journeys it became more and more apparent that we wanted to travel for a longer period. We discussed a lot of ideas but it was not until 2014 that our plans took shape.
In 2014 we happened to stay in one of the most famous hostels of Kyrgyz capital Bishkek. Lot of bicycle travelers were staying there at that time. Among them was a 66 year old guy who cycled from Germany to Kyrgyzstan in only three months. He was really enthusiastic about his way of travelling which deeply impressed us. It was around one year later that we decided to copy his concept and to travel the world by bicycle. Cycling seemed to be just the right speed to travel at - not as fast as car or train but faster than hiking.
We scheduled our trip for 2017 or 2018 but for various reasons things happened faster than expected. Shortly before Christmas 2015 we resigned from our jobs and terminated our tenancy. On 16th of April we eventually started our journey.
